Pride-Chem's history began as Seng Hin Chemical & Manufacturing Pte Ltd was founded in 1977 in response to the increasing demand for superior quality ammonia based products in Singapore. Since then, Seng Hin has expanded rapidly and became a one-stop custom manufacturing supplier of chemicals especially in ammonia based chemicals.
Seng Hin's commercial success is visible in the diversity of its clients. Seng Hin's ammonia-based chemicals are used widely in the semiconductor industry, pharmaceutical, chemical and water treatment plants, oil fields, and refrigeration, among others. Seng Hin was awarded ISO9002 Certification from DNV for quality, system and services.
Since 1987, Pride-Chem began its operation and to be the leader in the recovery and treatment of hazardous waste products from the electronic industry. Pride-Chem's main focus has been on the environmentally friendly treatment of toxic waste solution produced by the PCB industry. Initially, focusing only on the recovery and refining of copper oxide from cupric chloride solution, Pride-Chem recovery processes had produced copper oxide with 45% - 50% pure copper content.
In 1994, these facilities were expanded to include the recovery and treatment of copper oxide and ammonium hydroxide from spent alkaline etchant, another end-product of the multi-layer PCB industry. By 1996, Pride-Chem facilities initiated the production of value-added copper oxide powder, with a minimum copper content of 77.5%, as well as a high purity copper oxide powder with a minimum copper content of 78.5%. Spent ammonium hydroxide is further refined into fresh alkaline etchant.
Pride-Chem's recovery process converts cupric acid and alkaline solution and copper sludge into a wide variety of high-quality products. With recovery and treatment plants in Malaysia, Pride-Chem's Singapore facility functions as the technical consultation and business support base for industrial facilities all over the Southeast Asian region. Pride-Chem (Malaysia) is a joint venture between Pride-Chem Industries Pte Ltd (Singapore) and Coogee Chemicals (Australia). In 2003, Seng Hin became an integrated process of Pride-Chem. This synthesis enables Pride-Chem to close the loop to recover spent ammonium based etchants, manufacture and market ammonium-based products.
